Your monthly debt repayment amount depends on your situation and how much you owe in total for your debts. The whole idea of the debt review process is to be able to help over-indebted South Africans restructure their monthly debt repayments. The National Credit Act provides for serious events such as cuts and expensive vehicle breakages as examples. It therefore offers you the opportunity to overcome these events without the additional financial burden of your debt obligations. This fee is 5% of all monthly repayments to creditors over the term of debt repayment, but is capped at R$450 per month.
Can I skip payment with Debt Review?
Creditors don’t have to go back to original interest rates and repayment amounts, but they can if they choose to do so. I was told to file a cancellation and they will inform my debtors that I will regain control of my debts. I would like to cancel this entire debt review process and pay my creditors in person as I will be able to do so. It must be remembered that one of the main benefits of the debt audit is the reduction in interest rates and monthly repayments that debt advisors can normally secure on behalf of the consumer, resulting in real cash flow relief.
How long will Debt Review stay in your name in South Africa?
If you’ve recently received your release certificate, credit bureaus will remove your debt check status. Credit providers and credit agencies are served with the issued approval certificate, and within 21 working days, their own profile is not marked as a debt check. Most importantly, the more committed they are to keeping up with their repayment amount and paying more for their debts, if they are able to do so, the sooner they can finish the debt review. How long the debt review process takes depends, among other things, on the amount of debt you have and how much you can afford to repay it.
